FAQ

Common questions

What does 'authorised' mean?

Authorised by the President of the Oberlandesgericht Köln to produce certified translations admissible before German courts and authorities. Each translation carries a certificate of accuracy.

Can you handle apostilled documents?

I translate the document together with any apostille or legalisation certificate already attached. I do not issue apostilles myself and do not coordinate them.

How is confidentiality handled?

Documents are handled confidentially, stored encrypted, and deleted after delivery — unless you request otherwise.

Do you work with other translators?

Translations are produced personally as a rule — no subcontracting without your knowledge. Only for large-volume projects, and solely at your express request, do I bring in experienced fellow translators; final responsibility for accuracy always remains with me.

What is a 'standard line'?

The German convention for translation billing: 55 characters including spaces. A full page is typically 30–35 standard lines. You will always receive a fixed fee after document review.

How is your fee calculated?

As a baseline, in accordance with the German Judicial Remuneration and Compensation Act (Justizvergütungs- und -entschädigungsgesetz – JVEG); individual fixed fees following document review are available.
